  1. Is SMP a tattoo?

No, scalp micropigmentation is different from a tattoo, although both procedures involve making pigmented dots on the skin. However, what sets both apart is the customized pigments, needles, SMP pen, SMP process, depth and detail, and technician training. SMP is a specialized procedures that requires training and skills to do the job of creating natural-looking follicles.

  1. Why am I losing hair?

Hair loss does not stem from one reason. There are numerous reasons that cause hair loss. it could be due to genetics, hormonal imbalance, medical condition, ageing, dietary choices, medication therapy, environmental factors, stress, or deficiency. Post-Covid hair loss is also a reality.

  1. Does SMP work on scars?

Ideally scars are tough and unsightly. Nobody wants to deal with a situation where they undergo a surgery and end up with ugly scars. Unfortunately, it happens with a majority of transplant clients. Luckily, SMP has a solution to this. Although SMP is designed to camouflage scars, not all types of pigments can do the job. Scar pigment is specially formulated to act tough on scars.

  1. What is the best kind of SMP pigment?

Many tattoo artists have jumped on the SMP bandwagon and started providing scalp micropigmentation services using tattoo ink. Unfortunately, this is not the best pigment for scalp micropigmentation. SMP pigment is different from tattoo ink. While the latter is prone to blurring, migration, and discoloration, the former is formulated with ingredients that do not blur or get discolored. For example, HD pigments from DermMicro are the best-sellers for their quality results. What’s more, they come for different skin types and colors and require no dilution. DM has made the task of using SMP pigment easier with its HD quality products that combine keratin or a fibrous structural protein with organic pigments. This gives the look of natural hair stubble. The pigment does not change color, blur, or migrate.

  1. How long does recovery take?

SMP recovery is quick, unlike a hair transplant that takes a long time to heal. While clients are able to leave the clinic within an hour of the treatment, they may experience some redness immediately after SMP. But this redness disappears the next day. For clients who are excited to see SMP results immediately after scalp micropigmentation, DM has designed redness remover. It’s quite a handy solution to invest in for scalp artists as it removes post- SMP redness for a few minutes. So you can click before and after pictures.

Recovery does not take long, provided you follow a few SMP aftercare tips.  That makes your healing process quick and ensures a lasting recovery.

DM has come up with scalp aftercare kit to make the task of aftercare easier for SMP clients. The kit comes with instructions. So clients know what to use when. The kit includes a healing ointment, shampoo, and lotion. They are soothing and give clients the best experience.
